Wellness Nutrition Lecture – Scope of Practice Celebration

February 27, 2010

After 57 years of an ancient and the most restrictive Scope of Practice in the nation,  it has finally been changed thanks to the Association of New Jersey Chiropractors.  Governor Corzine signed this into law just before leaving office.  The short of it is continuing education has been reinstituted, we will eventually have acupuncture in the office and most importantly we can offer nutrition and nutritional advice to our patients. We will primarily use Anabolic Laboratories for our nutritional products.  They have served the Chiropractic Profession for 85 years and is the only company with pharmaceutical  grade mandates.  The bottom line is that you can guarantee the supplements quality and quantity.  It is clearly a superior product.

As a rule we will concentrate on reducing the inflammatory process, supporting the Chiropractic Adjustment, and helping the body heal and maintain a high level of wellness. I also believe you as the patient will be very pleased at the pricing.  Below is a list of the products we will have by Monday, March 1st

  • Multi-Vitamin/Mineral Complex Iron Free (Compliment to a healthy diet)
  • Clinical Magnesium (Critical in nearly all reactions in the body – key for reducing inflammation)
  • Clinical Omega 3 (Brain and nervous system support – key for reducing inflammation – #1 supplement stated by Dr. Oz)
  • Vitamin D3/K2/Cinnamon Chewable (incredibly innovative – heart and immune health)
  • CoQ10 (heart health – regenerates all other antioxidants)
  • Pro Enz ( an anti-inflammatory product containing ginger, tumeric, boswellia, rosemary, and more!)
  • Complete Probiotic (digestive health to support immunity)

Any questions please don’t hesitate to ask!!!!!!!!!!!

Autism, Mercury, and High Fructose Corn Syrup

February 16, 2010

Autism, Mercury, and High Fructose Corn Syrup

This is the title of the Article Review Service written and researched by Daniel Murphy, DC.  The title alone should stir up feelings of concern.  Because of this I thought it was very important to summarize this Article Review.

For those of you who go to my quarterly Dinner Talks you would recall that one of the top four foods that I recommend you stay away from like the plague is High Fructose Corn Syrup. It appears that HFCS just reached the top of my stay away list.

Mercury is used to produce thousands of products including food ingredients such as citric acid, sodium benzoate, and HFCS. Mercury with no exception is a potent neurological toxin and particularly dangerous to newborns and unborn children in the womb. The newest study “clearly and reliably demonstrated significant levels of mercury in 45% of the HFCS samples analyzed.” This is truly a serious concern considering the fact that fructose consumption among US children and adults represents 10% of calories consumed in any 24 hour period.

Stay away, stay away and please read the labels of any and all processed foods!

The Newest Blue Zone – The Greek Island of Ikaria

The Newest Blue Zone – The Greek Island of Ikaria

Many of you came to my last Dinner Talk where I talked about the first 4 designated Blue Zones; Loma Linda, Okinawa, Sardinia, and the Nicoya Region of Costa Rica.  Well Dan Buettner and his researchers have found another Blue Zone with some new additional insights into living a long healthy life.

The newest Blue Zone is Ikaria which is about 35 miles off the coast of Turkey.  More then  1/3 of the residents reach the age of 90, suffer 20% less cancer, half the rate of heart disease, and show no signs of dementia. Long living Ikarians fast religiously about 150 days a year, stay up late, and nap each day. They eat mostly leafy greens, potatoes, and beans. They have one distinct difference from other Zones in that they drink a tea multiple times a day from fresh picked herbs from their personal gardens.

All these herbs had one thing in common, they are natural diuretics – they make you pee! They help you flush out toxins and natural waste products from your body.  In addition and maybe more importantly diuretics lower blood pressure by working on the kidneys.  Some of the herbs are hard to find in the U.S.  The ones that you can find are dandelion, nettle, birch, wild mint, spleenwort, rosemary, and purple sage.  The last is green tea which is also high in catechins that can prevent cancer as a potent antioxidant. Just grab a handful and steep in near boiling water and drink up.

I am already planning to grow these in my garden this spring and summer.

Yours in a long and healthy life,
