Chiropractic a $2,750,000,000 Healthcare Savings! – Take this Obamacare

June 19, 2013

Chiropractic a $2,750,000,000 Healthcare Savings!

Thanks to the Foundation for Chiropractic Progress and a recent half page article in the Wall Street Journal this incredible Healthcare Savings has been brought to light!

Here is a summary:

Spinal Adjustments were proven to be just as effective as microdiskectomy (surgery) for patients experiencing sciatica secondary to lumbar disk herniation!

More than 200,000 microdiskectomies are performed annually in the US, at a direct cost of $5 billion, or $250,000 per procedure.  If cost is assumed at $100 per Chiropractic visit, there is a direct, total savings of $22,900 per adjustment patient. System wide, this could save $2.75 billion dollars annually.

To look more closely at these studies please visit: www.foundation4chiroeducation.com

These potential savings only touch the tip of what is possible with regular consistent specific Chiropractic Care!

I caution you to not only look at Chiropractic as a “treatment” for low back pain; this just happens to be an easy way to look at the enormous savings possible.

Chiropractic addresses what is right in you, the inborn innate intelligence that governs all aspects of you, including your HEALTH!

When the tension is removed from your Nervous System and Spinal Column by a specific Chiropractic Adjustment your brain communicates properly with all the cells in your body and proper function returns.  Proper function means different things for different people; no headaches, increased energy, better sleep, being able to lift your grandchild, increased athletic performance, etc….

Paleo Pack – 30 Day Supplement Program

June 17, 2013

We all need nutritional support on some level.  Depending on your genetics, how well your digestive system works, and the quality of your food choices will determine what kinds of supplements are best for you.  It is our belief that if you are eating a Paleo Template Diet with appropriate sun exposure your need for these products should be minimal. Especially if you are consuming organ meats, bone broth, and a wide compliment of fresh vegetables.   However, there are a few supplements that we feel are necessary even in the best of diets and this is why we designed the Paleo Pack.

So you may be wondering what is in the Paleo Pack. Each packet includes 6 capsules and 2 softgels.  2 capsules (2,000 ius) of Vit. D3, 2 capsules (300 mg) of Magnesium bisglycinate chelate, 2 softgels (2,000 mg) of Marine Fish Oil Concentrate including 10 ius of Vit. E, and 2 capsules of a Probiotic Blend supplying 6 billion cfus of beneficial bacteria.

Why Vit. D3 – first and foremost many people are deficient – Vit. D3 has roles in calcium metabolism, bone health, and many other physiologic processes – Vit. D receptors are found in the colon, prostate, breast, ovary, and  many other tissues, it is anti-inflammatory, boosts immune function, and up regulates many many genes.

Why Magnesium Chelate – it is a cofactor in more than 300 enzymes, extremely important for cardiac function, energy metabolism, neurochemical transmission, and bone formation.  The chelate form is absorbed and utilized much easier than other forms such as carbonate or sulfate.  Other than cacao and a few other foods magnesium is difficult to get from food alone.

Why Marine Fish Oil – high potency DHA and EPA will  help your body reduce inflammation and to feed your brain and nervous system with the fats it needs to function at high levels.  Omega 3s support many physiological processes related to immune function, lipoprotein metabolism, brain function, and mood regulation. A small amount of natural Vit. E is added to  maintain freshness and retard lipid peroxidation.

Why Probioitics – 6 billion plus cfus of bifidobacter and lactobacillus to help reestablish your healthy balance beneficial bacteria, boost your immune system, and improve your gut health and digestion. Microencapsulation is used to help protect the microorganisms from destruction by stomach acid to ensure there viability and improve shelf life.

My Story…………………..

December 17, 2012

My Story

One of my earliest memories of being sick was lying on my parents pull out sofa bed holding my right ear and screaming in agony with a wicked inner ear infection.  At an early age I became very familiar with the pink bubble gum tasting amoxicillin and slurped it off the spoon like a champ.  This became routine 4 /5 or more times a year; strep throat, ear infection, ear infection, strep throat.  My mother not knowing anything different continued on this path….

This all changed around the age of 12.  While watching my minor league baseball game sitting on those hard cold aluminum bleachers my mother began to complain of low back pain.  It just so happened that sitting beside her was Mickey R—.  It just so happened that Mickey R— worked for a Chiropractor and it just so happened that Mickey R— suggested my mother go see the Chiropractor she worked for.  This changed my mother’s life, my life, my family’s life, and countless other lives for the healthier.

Thankfully she took the action step of actually making the appointment and seeing Dr. Elliot. During her 1st  visit she was examined, x-rayed, adjusted, and most importantly Dr. Elliot explained to her the condition of her spine and nervous system, what true health is, what Chiropractic was and wasn’t, and what she could expect. Her results were fantastic. I can only assume the idea that health comes from within, that the nervous system coordinates and controls everything, and that if your spine and nervous system is subluxated you cannot express your full potential truly resonated with my mom.

Shortly after her first visit I found myself hoping on the table face down, turning my head to the left then to the right and getting my first adjustment. Getting off the table feeling lighter my mom and I left and while we were walking down the hallway side by side I turned to her and said, “That’s what I want to do for the rest of my life.” It took me a while to realize the full extent of my 1st adjustment.  Since that first adjustment 22 years ago I’ve yet to have another bout of strep throat or ear infection and haven’t taken an antibiotic or any other medication since.

So since the age of 12 I dedicated my life to this thing called Chiropractic and the Chiropractic Lifestyle. Fast forward 10 years and I graduated from Montclair State University.  Move forward 4 more years and I graduated from Life University with my DC degree.  A few weeks after graduation my fiancé then, wife now Kerri and I moved back to NJ and I was ready to go.

Coming full circle the same Chiropractor that gave me my first adjustment 14 years prior was ready to expand and I got thrown into a satellite office in Bayonne. My 1st week of practice I saw 16 people, within three years I was seeing over 200 people a week and became a partner. (At this same time my mother who introduced me to Chiropractic and my life’s mission was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer and died 30 days later – needless to say my resolve to bring natural health and wellness only grew.) 2 years later I bought my partners out and moved into my dear friends building on the corner of 33rd and Broadway and continued my practice at this location.  At this moment we are serving the Bayonne / Jersey City Community as the largest wellness facility in the area with 5 Independent Chiropractors, a Physical Therapist, Massage Therapist, and a Holistic Nutritionist.

*In my wallet I carry a small welcome note that my mother left me attached to a gift that I received the first day at my dorm room in Montclair State University.  On the front it says Welcome – Noah De Koyer – Freeman Hall – Rm. 314.  On the back there is a personalized note in my mother’s hand writing that says – “Today begins a new chapter for you.  Go for it all as you always have.  We Love You. Mom, Dad, Jeff, and Laura.”

I encourage you all too deeply consider this advice.  Each and every day is a new chapter.  Every day you can go for it!, whatever that It may be.

Thank you for reading,

Noah

A SLIP ON THE SNOWY SIDEWALK………………….

November 28, 2012

A SLIP ON THE SNOWY SIDEWALK, IN WINTER, IS A SMALL THING. IT HAPPENS TO MILLIONS.

A FALL FROM A LADDER, IN THE SUMMER, IS A SMALL THING. THAT ALSO HAPPENS TO MILLIONS.

THE SLIP OR FALL PRODUCES A SUBLUXATION. THE SUBLUXATION IS A SMALL THING.

THE SUBLUXATION PRODUCES PRESSURE ON A NERVE. THAT PRESSURE IS A SMALL THING.

THE PRESSURE CUTS OFF THE FLOW OF MENTAL IMPULSES.

THAT DECREASES FLOWING IS A SMALL THING.

THAT DECREASED FLOWING PRODUCES A DIS-EASED BODY AND BRAIN.

THAT IS A BIG THING TO THAT MAN.

MULTIPLY THAT MAN BY A THOUSAND, AND YOU CONTROL THE PHYSICAL AND MENTAL WELFARE OF A CITY.

MULTIPLE THAT MAN BY A MILLION AND YOU SHAPE THE PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DESTINY OF A STATE.

MULTIPLE THAT MAN BY ONE HUNDRED THIRTY MILLION  AND YOU FORECAST AND CAN PROPHESY THE PHYSICAL AND MENTAL STATUS OF A NATION.

University Club of Hudson County – Recap. Wed. January 25th Meeting

February 8, 2012

Dr. Leonard Vernon

The University Club of Hudson County’s last meeting was on Wednesday, January 25th! I had the pleasure to be a guest of my friends Tom and Andrea Dugan.  Since Dr. Vernon is a Chiropractor and he was speaking about his newest book I thought it would be great to go! The University Club of Hudson County was organized on December 28th 1897 and was incorporated on October 17th 1900.  To this day it is still a strong vibrant group. This meeting was held at Puccini’s in Jersey City and they put out a fantastic spread of food and was generous with the wine as well. (1064 West Side Ave. Jersey City, NJ)

Dr. Vernon’s presentation revolved around his new book about Mayor Hague of Jersey City. The balanced view of Mayor Hague that Dr. Vernon presented was much needed.

Dr. Leonard Vernon’s four books are –

The Life and Times of Jersey City Mayor Frank Hague: I am the Law.

A Profession Persecuted: The History of Chiropractic New Jersey.

Jersey City Medical Center

Case Studies in Chiropractic MRI – in conjunction with Dr. Christopher Kent

I highly recommend all of Dr. Leonard Vernon’s Books, The University Club of Hudson County, and Puccini’s Restaurant!

What does Cholesterol have to do with Chiropractic?

November 14, 2011

What does Cholesterol have to do with Chiropractic?

A government panel suggests screening kids in grade school as early as age 9 for high cholesterol. What angle should we take, hmmm!  Let’s look at high cholesterol itself.  High cholesterol is merely a symptom of an unhealthy circulatory system. If you eat processed foods, ingest an excess of trans fatty acids, a lack of omega 3 fatty acids, and do not exercise among other things it is likely over time that your cholesterol levels will raise into the supposed unhealthy range above 200! The excess cholesterol in your blood is the innate wisdom of your body trying to protect itself from the assault of your poor lifestyle choices. Cholesterol medications like Lipitor reduce your overall numbers but do not get to the real cause of the raised levels which is as mentioned above, poor lifestyle choices. So you reduce your overall cholesterol without changing your diet, exercising, or reducing your overall stress levels, a recipe for disaster!

Let’s compare this to a common Chiropractic case in any Chiropractor’s office.  A new patient comes into the office with awful migraine headaches.  She/he goes to the medical doctor and he gives this person a medication or two, maybe suggests a CT-Scan of the brain and sends this person on their way; once again treating the symptom of tremendous pain rather than getting to the cause of the headache.  The cause of the headache is likely a vertebral subluxation / misalignment in the cervical spine (neck) of this patient that is interfering with normal nerve flow causing the headache.  Remove the subluxation by a specific Chiropractic adjustment and teach the patient how not to recreate this situation and the headache is no longer a problem for this person. To summarize, both the pain of the headache and the raised cholesterol levels are both symptoms not the actual cause.  Remove the cause, poor lifestyle choices and vertebral subluxation, and eliminate the problem properly and correctly without having to introduce dangerous chemicals into the body of this patient.

What is the real underlying reason to screen grade school children?  I suspect it is to open up a whole new market for the drug companies and medical doctors to prescribe one of the biggest selling class of drugs of all time; statins!  Does anybody think for a second what this will do to our children! Cholesterol is a critical hormone that is needed by the body to create other hormones like testosterone. Not to mention we know that all statin drugs deplete the body of CoQ10 and critical nutrient for heart and muscle tissue as well as a potent antioxidant. The repercussions here are so vast I could write a novel.

Yes, I know a small percentage of people have hypercholesterolemia.  You might be able to persuade me to think this SMALL population should get tested.  This is the only people who may need to take a cholesterol lowering drug; all others can do this with proper lifestyle choices, including Chiropractic!

As an interesting side note there was just a case study in the Journal for Vertebral Subluxation Research, where a person’s cholesterol levels where reduced with specific Chiropractic care.  When a person’s nervous system is clear and tension is removed from the neuromuscular system of the human body all miracles are possible!

Getting back to the original question; what does Cholesterol have to Chiropractic? Other then the first two letters being the same it comes down to whether you choose to treat symptoms or to correct the cause of the problem.  It is my belief that correcting the cause is the only viable option when talking about the health of an individual! Removing the subluxation, the likely cause of the headache or low back pain is the same as reducing cholesterol through proper nutrition, exercise, and stress reduction.  Chiropractors by nature are and always have been Doctors of Cause!

Your health is your most valuable asset! Treat it so! Have your spine checked and adjusted on a regular basis and adjust your lifestyle appropriately to create the best you possible.
